San Francisco’s Tea Leaf Green have announced they are parting ways with bassist Reed Mathis, who joined the band after the band’s original bassist, Ben Chambers, left in 2007.
In a note posted to their website, Tea Leaf Green announced Mathis’ departure and thanked him for his time with the band. “Reed joined us at a pivotal period in the life of our band,” the band writes. “And we are forever grateful to him for the integral role he filled in TLG and for the collaborator and friend he has become.”
The note goes on to wish Mathis well in his other endeavors, which include a his new “classical dance music” project Electric Beethoven.
The band has also announced a run of East Coast dates during which Eric DiBerardino will be filling in on bass. The tour will include shows with Atlas Road Crew, Keller Williams and Stop Light Observations.

After nearly nine years and four genre-spanning albums, Tea Leaf Green and bassist Reed Mathis have decided to part creative ways.
