Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe posed for the above photo with Willie Nelson at Farm Aid (via Dayton Daily News) and the image has now gone viral after users noticed a container of Willie’s Reserve, his own brand of marijuana, on the table.

Sold legally in Colorado and Washington, Willie’s Reserve is illegal in Virginia, prompting the Governor to receive some backlash.

ABC’s WRIC reached out to the Governors office for a comment and spokesperson Brian Coy explained that McAuliffe had no idea the drug was in the photo.

“He was not and still is not aware of whatever was on the table or anywhere around him and wouldn’t know marijuana or related paraphernalia if it walked up and shook his hand,” Coy said. “He’s cool, but he’s not that cool.”
