Greensky Bluegrass continued their Northeast swing last night at the State Theatre in Portland, ME, with special guests Fruition both serving as the opening act and providing some sit ins throughout the night.

In the first set, which featured the debut of “While Waiting,” a track on Greensky’s new album that came out today, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted, the band also welcomed Fruition’s Kellen Asebroek for the set-closing run of “Tuesday Letter” and Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al.”

Greensky didn’t waste much time in bringing in their second-set guest, Fruition’s Jay Cobb Anderson, who joined the group for “Butcher’s Girl” and new album track “Fixin’ to Ruin.” The former tune featured a quote of Fruition’s “Labor of Love” prior to the start. Greensky would throw in another quote a couple songs later, putting a bit of Phish’s “Tweezer” into “Reuben’s Train.”

Greensky Bluegrass kick off a two-night run at Burlington, VT’s Higher Ground with Fruition before playing Catskill Chill on Sunday.
