Before Phish hit the stage for their Las Vegas finale, Greensky Bluegrass played a matinee show with a musical outfit of their own as the band took on a series of songs that Phish has previously covered.

Among them, early takes on “Old Home Place,” “Boogie On Reggae Woman,” Pink Floyd’s “Time” and “Paul & Silas” to go along with “Funky Bitch” and more bluegrass-themed numbers “Nellie Kane” and “Light Up or Leave Me Alone” (previously covered by Greensky).

During a later performance of “Broke Mountain Breakdown,” which gave way to Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion,” “Walk Away” and “After Midnight,” the band went deep into the Phish catalog, offering up a snippet of their “secret language,” teasing the Simpsons signal. That jam also included teases of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Bathtub Gin.” The show closed with “Rocky Top” that was preceded by a “Freebird” intro.

Next up for Greensky is a show in Solana Beach, CA tonight.
