This past weekend, founding Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench played his first ever completely solo performance at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, CA, mixing in solo tunes along with tracks from his work with Petty.

Tench’s setlist included his contributions to Mudcrutch’s two albums, “This Is A Good Street” and “Welcome to Hell,” and also covered Crosby, Stills and Nash’s “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” The Ronettes’ “I Can Hear Music” (also played by The Beach Boys) and covers of Bob Dylan’s “Corrina, Corrina” and “Duquesne Whistle,” which was a co-write with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. The night also featured tracks from Tench’s 2014 album You Should Be So Lucky.

Tench will play his first ever solo shows in New York City on November 10 at the Iridium Jazz Club, with both an early and late set. Tickets to the later set are still available:.
