Legendary bassist George Porter Jr. gained his iconic status with New Orleans funk godfathers The Meters, but the musician never shies away from a new collaboration, and his newest seems to be a recording session with fellow icon Snoop Dogg.

Porter Jr. posted a photo of the two on his Facebook page today with the caption, “Had a blast working with Snoop Dogg in L.A. over the past few days – can’t wait for y’all to hear it.” No more news of the collaboration has been made public, but Snoop and Porter are both on the recently revealed lineup for New Orleans’ Jazz Fest 2017.

In other GPJ news, the bassist will join his Meters bandmate and drummer Zigaboo Modeliste in their revolving Foundation of Funk project tonight at Colorado’s Boulder Theater with guests John Medeski and New Mastersounds guitarist Eddie Roberts.
