Next week, a group of musicians will come together at New York’s American Beauty for a special collaborative tribute to late drummer Clyde Stubblefield, who passed away last month at the age of 73.

Members of James Brown Band, Snarky Puppy and more will play the event, dubbed The Funky Drummer in honor of Stubblefield’s nickname and ubiquitously sampled work in the James Brown tune of the same name. Musicians participating in the tribute include vocalist Elise Testone, bassist Fred Thomas, drummers Eric Kalb and Daru Jones, guitarist Marcus Machado, keyboardist and vocalist Chris Rob and a horn section featuring Justin Stanton on trumpet and V. Jeffrey Smith and Samir Zarif on saxophones.

The tribute will take place at American Beauty on March 10. Tickets and more information are available here.
