At their recent stop at Birmingham, AL’s Zydeco, The Marcus King Band got some help from opening act Southern Avenue in the form of a couple sit ins from the band’s dynamic sister duo.

Singer Tierinii Jackson and her sister and percussionist Tikyra Jackson joined King and company for two tunes during the night, covers of Parliament Funkadelic’s “Give Up the Funk” and Tina Turner’s version of John Fogerty’s “Proud Mary.” Both bands are on the road in support of new records.

MKB will play Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley tonight, and next up for Southern Avenue is a two-night Texas run beginning with a show at Dallas’ House of Blues on April 6.
