New York’s SummerStage will return this year with over 100 shows across the city’s five boroughs, opening with a free show from Mavis Staples in Central Park on June 3.

The summer series will also once again feature neighborhood shows across the city, beginning with a performance from the newly reunited Digable Planets in Coffey Park in Brooklyn’s Red Hook neighborhood.

Partnering this year with NYC promotion company Bowery Presents, the series will also offer ticketed and benefit shows. So far, performances from Elvis Costello and the Imposters, Regina Spektor and PJ Harvey have been confirmed, with many more to come.

Other artists in the summer schedule so far include George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ Band, Bob Moses, GZA, a performance of new musical A Bronx Tale in the Bronx and more, plus the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival featuring the Joshua Redman Quartet and the Metropolitan Opera’s annual summer recital series, among other events. SummerStage is also presenting next month’s Gov’t Mule and Chris Robinson Brotherhood Central Park show prior to its official summer series.
