On May 1, legendary Atlanta musician and bandleader Col. Bruce Hampton will be honored one day after his 70th birthday at the Fox Theatre with Hampton 70, and an after-party featuring some of Hampton’s musical collaborators has been set for Terminal West on the same night.

The late-night show will take after Hampton’s Zambiland Orchestra performances, which brought together various rotating musicians under Hampton’s direction in the ’90s, by presenting the Zambi All Stars, featuring some Atlanta-based musicians that currently play with Hampton and others, along with many special guests. The core band will feature Darren “Snake Anthony” Stanley, Ike Stubblefield, Grant Green Jr., Tiger Neal, Nick Sebastian and Dante Harmon. Tickets are available here.

The Hampton 70 tribute proper will feature members of Hampton’s old Aquarium Rescue Unit, Phish, Widespread Panic, Leftover Salmon, The Wood Brothers and more, plus Warren Haynes, Karl Denson, John Popper and Billy Bob Thornton, among others. More information on that show can be found here.
