In a new interview with Billboard, Devon Allman spoke about his father Gregg following his passing at the age of 69.

Allman said he is still “just trying to process and get through it,” noting that his mother, Shelley Kay Jefts, also passed away last year. He also touched on his father’s health in recent months, calling it the “pink elephant in the room” anytime he visited.

“We never really talked about it,” he said. “And the last time I hung out with him, it was the first thing he brought up and it was unsettling. That was hard, but it is what it is, and he said he was really proud of us kids, and that was just a hard day. I had to say goodbye to him.”

As for his father’s legacy, Allman said that he wants to make sure “his music lives forever and is treated with respect and integrity.” Adding, “There’s some things in the vault, and that’s certainly up to the family and management to kind of oversee.”

Allman also noted that a funeral for Gregg will take place this weekend. “We’re keeping it pretty small so it doesn’t turn into a circus.”
