Soulive kicked off their Bowlive return at the Brooklyn Bowl with an opening night that featured special guests Karl Denson, Steve Kimock, Bobby Vega and Leslie Mendelson.

While Denson joined the band for a majority of the show, Kimock arrived early for tunes like “Footprints,” “Nubian Lady” and “Spark.” The second set was played with all guests on stage as Vega and Kimock sat in on “Gossip” and stayed around for the rest of the set with Mendelson joining in on the following cover of “The Weight.”

Mendelson and guests stayed on for takes on “That’s What Love Will Make You Do,” “West LA Fadeaway,” Sly and the Family Stone’s “Family Affair,” “Scarlet Begonias” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire.”

Tonight, Soulive returns with their patented “Rubber Bowlive” featuring Doyle Bramhall II and more guests.
