This Sunday, September 10, marks this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day, and Entercom has announced they will host a special on-air special for mental health awareness featuring Metallica, Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos, producer Bob Ezrin and more as part of their new “I’m Listening” campaign.

The two-hour special will air across Entercom’s platforms at 10am ET and will also feature Phantogram’s Sarah Barthel, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, Alice In Chains’ William DuVall, former NFL player LeRoy Butler, Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff and others. The gathered celebrities will share their personal stories and offer resources and a live call-in option during the event.

“Like so many millions of people, my family has dealt with mental illness,” says Pat Paxton, Entercom’s President of Programming. “Until very recently, most people kept quiet about the experience. ‘I’m Listening’ aims to end the stigma of talking about mental health and is the result of all of our stations uniting to offer hope to those affected and the friends and family supporting them. As a media broadcaster, we know that talk saves lives and that is exactly what this show is about – saving lives.”

“Since the loss of my oldest son to suicide, mental health and mental illness issues have been very close to my heart,” says Ezrin. “We need to speak openly and honestly about these issues so that it becomes natural for people who are suffering to reach out for help.”
