Last night, an all-star cast of musicians came together to celebrate the music of the Grateful Dead at Brooklyn Bowl as the venue hosted its Grateful Dead Appreciation Night, which saw Jackie Greene lead a rotating group of Friends through two sets of Dead classics.

Greene’s house band featured his regular bandmates – guitarist Nathan Dale, drummer Fitz Harris and bassist Jon Cornell – while the special guests throughout the night featured Dead & Company keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, Twiddle guitarist Mihali Savoulidis, moe. guitarist Al Schnier, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Leslie Mendelson and former Gregg Allman Band guitarist Scott Sharrard.

The night’s music kicked off with Dead favorites in the first set like “Bertha,” “He’s Gone,” “Scarlet Begonias”> “Fire On the Mountain” and “New Speedway Boogie,” and the second frame also threw in a nod to the Allman Brothers with “Don’t Keep Me Wondering” after a “Shakedown Street” set opener. The collective also rolled through “I Shall Be Released,” “Jack Straw” and “China Cat Sunflower”> “I Know You Rider” before the finale of “Sugaree.”
