Continuing the legacy of MC5, founding guitarist Wayne Kramer has announced a celebratory tour entitled “Kick Out the Jams: The 50th Anniversary Tour.”
Kramer’s band, called MC50, will feature of himself, Kim Thayil of Soundgarden on guitar, Brendan Canty of Fugazi on drums, Dug Pinnick of King’s X on bass, and Marcus Durant of Zen Guerrilla on vocals.
“This band will rip your head off. It’s real, raw, sweaty, total energy rock and roll, like a bunch of 40-to-70-year-old punks on a meth power trip,” Kramer said in an official statement.
MC50 will play 35 North American dates from early September to late October.
“My goal is that the audience leaves these concerts fueled by the positive and unifying power of rock music,” Kramer also stated.
