The String Cheese Incident offered multiple headlining performances over the weekend at Electric Forest in Rothbury, MI, and the band’s two-set show on Friday night featured an impressive parade of special guests, along with a few new covers and even the debut of a new SCI original tune.

First up was the new song, which is called “Manga” and was debuted by the band near the middle of the first set. A few songs later, String Cheese fit their first-ever cover of REM’s “Superman” into a run of “Rollover” to end the first frame.

The band wasted no time in getting the guest train rolling in set two, kicking it off by welcoming saxophonist GRiZ for a “Miss Brown’s Teahouse” that included a cover of Herbie Hancock’s early funk classic “Chameleon.” Everyone Orchestra bandleader Matt Butler then joined the band to lead the way on an improvisational segment, before SCI welcomed out the Shook Twins for “Sirens” and a cover of Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” another debut for the band. See video of that collaboration below.

Immediately after the Shook Twins sit in, Xavier Rudd and SunSquabi’s Kevin Donohue took their turn with a cover of Bob Marley’s “Exodus.” SCI’s own “Valley of the Jig” then led into the band’s first cover of Michael Jackson’s “Workin’ Day and Night,” which featured guests Cory Henry and Natalie Cressman. After “Rosie,” the guest-packed set then finally came to a close with yet another debut cover of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” with The Glitch Mob and Mt. Joy’s Matt Quinn joining as the final guests of the night.
