JZ Productions, run by the folks from Bear’s Picnic, hosted another successful show at The Silo, in Reading, PA. Two floors and two stages filled the night with continuous music. The fun began even before the doors were opened, as VIP ticket holders were treated to a leisurely buffet dinner with the bands. Over at the NRPS table, the laughter and energy were so infectious, clearly setting the mood for the night ahead.

Two Pennsylvania favorites got the music started on the upstairs stage. Dakini, an original electric improvisational band and Cabinet, a six piece bluegrass inspired band. On the downstairs main stage, NRPS, with Mookie Siegal, joining in on keys and accordian, played a spectacular set which included “Dead Flowers,” “Henry,” “Prisoner of Freedom,” “Down for the Ride,” “No Time,” “Message in a Bottle,” “Louisiana Lady,” “Where I Come From” and “That’s All,” an original from bass player, Ronnie Penque.

The night just kept getting better as The 7 Walkers took the stage at 11:45pm. Opening with “Bertha,” they counted us down to the new year while cheers, confetti and balloons filled the air. Steve Kimock joined in for the second set, starting with “New Speedway Boogie” into “Wharf Rat.” Others were “Eyes of the Word,” “Deal,” “Goin’ Down the Road,” “Bird Song” and “Lovelight.” Buddy Cage and Dave Nelson joined in for “Friend of the Devil” and “Lay My Burden Down.” Buddy Cage stayed on for “Mr. Charlie” and “I know You Rider.” Heading close to 3am, the night came to a close with the encore of “We Bid You Goodnight.” A great beginning for the new year ahead.
