Have you seen the new HBO series Treme yet? The show picks up three months after Hurricane Katrina where the residents of New Orleans are trying to put their lives back together. While there are wonderful performances by Steve Zahn, John Goodman, Wendell Pierce and an ensemble cast, the real star is the music, which drives every episode. As actor Wendell Pierce has said of the show it features, “Good acting, good writing, great music.”

The guests have included Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint (who recreate the sessions for their The River In Reverse album), Galactic, Trombone Shorty, Dr. John Kermit Ruffins, Big Sam Williams, Rebirth Brass Band, Donald Harrison, Jr. and Steve Earle.

While the show has been renewed for a second season, episodes are not currently running on HBO. In addition, for those with access to HBO on Demand, the series only runs through midnight on Sunday.

So why not kick back this weekend for a Treme marathon? Fix yourself some Crescent City Cuisine and enjoy…
