Mickey Hart has spent much of his career exploring the boundaries of percussion music, drumming in far off lands and, even, bonding over the drum’s history with the Library of Congress. During Green Apple, Hart will take his explorations further—-no pun intended—-pairing with the Burning Man art/music/freak off-shoot the Mutaytor for a series of midtown performances. On Friday April 21, Hart and Baaba Maal will join the Mutaytor for a free show in front of New York’s transportation axis Grand Central, turning 42nd street into a veritable Shakedown Street with music, drum circles and percussion pyrotechnic. A day later, on April 22, Hart and the Mutaytor will perform a midnight show at BB King Blues Club, with other guests likely to join in the fray. As previously reported, Hart will also perform with his Rhythm Devil partner Bill Kreutzmann during Green Apple at the Canal Room on April 19 and the Jammys on April 20.
