A string Quartet and dozens of dancers joined Trey Anastasio and his band last night at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. During the first encore, At the Gazebo the string quartet from the Vermont Youth Orchestra (Adriane Post, Jane Kittredge, Anja Jokela, and Indigo Ruth-Davis) performed. Next, during Alive Again Brazilian fight dancers emerged while Anastasio scored their theatrics. Percussionist Cyro Baptistas group Beat the Donkey then took the stage along with several additional percussionists and dancers. At the end of the song, Trey led everyone off stage, down through the crowd and out the front of the venue.
Beat the Donkey is a ten-piece percussion ensemble that features instruments from Brazil, United States, Indonesia and Africa. Baptistsa serves as conductor for the band. More information is available at www.cyrobaptista.com.
