The Derek Trucks Band welcomed Phil Lesh and Paul McCandless to the stage Thursday at The Fillmore in San Francisco. McCandless (Oregon, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones) emerged midway through the set for For My Brother and then returned for the encore, Pedro in D Minor. Lesh joined for Dreams and Franklins Tower, which included a bass duet with DTBs Todd Smallie.
Trucks and Lesh have collaborated many times recently, dating back to the fall of 1999, when Derek toured as a member of Phil & Friends (that line-up also included guitarist Warren Haynes, drummer John Molo and keyboardist Rob Barraco).
The Derek Trucks Band concluded its winter tour the following night at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The official website is www.derektrucks.com.
