Members of Deep Banana Blackout will perform in various incarnations during Jazz Fest in New Orleans. The principal line-up, dubbed Fuzz and the Gratuitous Sextet, features Benj LeFevre, Rob Somerville, Bryan Smith and Cy Madan along with Andy Sanesi (The Bomb Squad). The group will perform April 26 at Mamas Blues, May 2 at the Frenchmen Festival at Cafe Brazil and May 3 at Rosys Jazz Hall. Deep Banana drummer Eric Kalb and DBB alumna Jen Durkin will join the line-up April 27 at the Howlin Wolf, for a show billed as Deep Banana Blackout Disfunktional Family (the Gratuitous Sextet will also perform).
Fuzz will also participate in the Everyone Orchestra gig on April 26 at the Howlin Wolf. That line-up features Deep Bananas Hope Clayburn, Bryan Smith and Rob Sommerville along with Matt Butler (Jambay), Colonel Bruce Hampton (ARU, Codetalkers) and The Derek Trucks Band. Finally, Fuzz will perform with Speaking in Tongues on April 30 at Mamas Blues (a co-bill with The Motet). Additional musicians include Eric Levy (Garaj Mahal), Dave Watts (The Motet), Jessica Lurie(Living Daylights) and Garret Sayers (The Motet, Miracle Orchestra).
