Members of the Allman Brothers Band and its extended family collaborated Saturday at the Gathering of the Vibes in Mariaville, NY. Kofi Burbridge joined Warren Haynes during his solo acoustic set, playing flute for Traffics Sad and Deep as You. Derek Trucks then added acoustic slide guitar to the Allman Brothers Old Friend. During Susan Tedeschis set, husband Derek and his drummer Yonrico Scott joined in for a cover of Bob Marleys Get Up Stand Up. Govt Mules set was next and featured the Deep Banana Blackout Horns (tenor saxophonist Rob Somerville and trombonist Bryan Smith) on Spanish Moon -> Cissy Strut.
The Allman Brothers welcomed saxophonist Karl Denson for The Same Thing and Desdamona with Mule keyboardist Danny Louis making an appearance during the former. The DBB Horns also sat in for Ive Been Lovin You Too Long.
The ABB closed out its summer tour last night in Mansfield, MA.
