The Bomb Squad has made it to the semi-finals in a competition to perform at this years American Music Awards. A playoff event will be held this Friday, September 12, at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles, where ten unsigned bands will each play two songs before a panel of judges. The top three groups will advance to the finals, slated for October 23 at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City. The winner will perform on the American Music Awards, which will be broadcast live on ABC on November 16.
In addition to The Bomb Squad, the semi-finalists include Elcodrive, Frolic, Jag Star, Mere, Relax to Paris, Terell, the argument Tian and UNCROWNED. These bands were selected out of a group of fifty by Dick Clark and CMJ Founder and CEO Robert Haber. Weve discovered a lot of great unsigned talent this year and it was difficult to narrow down the entries to the top 10, says Clark, AMA creator and executive producer. These semi-finalists have the talent and capability to become major music stars. We look forward to introducing one of them to millions of television viewers in November on the AMAs.
