With the Yonder Mountain String Band off until early June, banjo player Dave Johnston will perform with his Swing Set project. This group, which also includes Will Downs on bass and Jon ‘Blackdog’ Ridnell on guitar, will play two Colorado shows later this week, at the Acoustic Cafe in Nederland on Friday and at Gracy O’Malleys in Breckenridge on Saturday. Meanwhile, this coming weekend Jeff Austin, Johnston’s YMSB bandmate, will also perform in another context, joining Benny Galloway for a few gigs (at St. Olaf’s College in Friday and then down to NC for shows on Friday and Saturday). Galloway composed the material on Yonder’s latest release, Old Hands.
