This past weekend at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, OH, Dark Star Orchestra raised Nearly $6000 for the International Rett Syndrome Association at GratefulFest. The donations came via the 2nd Annual GratefulFest Benefit Song Raffle (park owners Evan and Kristina Kelly have a nine year old daughter with Rett Syndrome) whereby fans were permitted to offer requests for a set that took place on Sunday (selections included ‘Viola Lee Blues,’ ‘Built To Last,’ ‘Passenger,’ ‘Hey Pocky Way’ Roger Lewis & Kevin Harris of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band on saxophones). On Friday DSO dipped into 1987’s Dylan /Dead tour, presenting the 7/12/87 Giants Stadium show with David Gans stepping in for Dylan. DSO is in NYC tonight for the second of its three Irving Plaza shows.
