Topaz McGarrigle was raised in Austin but relocated to New York City in the mid-1990s to become part of the downtown music scene. This month though hes back in Austin with his group for a Thursday residency at the Tambaleo. A number of artists are checking out the action, including Scorpions drummer James Kottak whom Topaz kept from the stage because he was too trashed to play.’ McGarrigle has apologized on his web site indicating that he probably plays best after a few cocktails. The residency continues this Thursday, while fans of the band outside Texas can pick up the groups Afrodub Sessions disc via Topazmusic.com.
