One final New Years Eve report crossed our desk which we thought wed pass along. The first of the Slips three sets at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA began with cohort Mr. Meowskers as Father Timer announcing that in order to locate the New Year the band would need to conduct an exhaustive search through its past music. This in turn led the band to offer up a number of pre-1997 songs including Autobody Experience, Cumulus, Mt. Zion, and Honey Melon. The band ultimately located the Year via ‘Children of December.’ The night ended much later with an Auld Lang Syne that also incorporated ‘What’s So Funny (About Peace, Love and Understanding)’ and ‘If One of Us Should Fall.’ At present the group has no confirmed dates for 2005 although guitarist Brad Barr will perform solo at New Yorks Knitting Factory Tap Bar on January 13 with an opening set from Meowskers and Slip bassist Marc Friedman.
