Last night at the Fillmore in San Francisco, the Steve Kimock Band performed its much-ballyhooed all request show. Musical suggestions were offered via the fan site flok.org. The SKB delivered a few songs originally performed by Kimock’s prior group, the late, lamented Zero, including Forever is Nowhere, Chance In A Million, and Golden Road. Kimocks former Zero bandmate Pete Sears sat in on the all three songs while Zero alum Martin Fierro joined in for the last two. Notable covers included Bruce Hornsbys Rainbow’s Cadillac, the Grateful Deads Stella Blue, Rodgers and Hammersteins My Favorite Things (which John Coltrane made his own) as well as the debut performance of the Allman Brothers Bands ‘In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. The SKB is at the Mystic in Petaluma, CA tonight and tomorrow.
