The Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey will spend time this July opening for Les Claypool and his new band in various corners of the country. Beginning tonight at Boulder, COs Fox Theater, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey will support Claypool in Lawrence, KS, Atlanta, Asheville, NC, Columbus, OH and Royal Oak, MI before joining the bassist at the 10,000 Lakes Festival on July 22. The group has also just laid down a handful of tracks in New York for a new album produced by Joel Dorn (Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Neville Brothers, Leon Redbone). The album, scheduled for an October release, will tentatively feature covers of Bjork, The Flaming Lips and Charles Mingus, as well as original material developed live over the last year like ‘Santiago’ and ‘Halliburton Breakdown.’
