After a day of rest, the BIG Summer Classic headed across the border yesterday to Torontos The Docks Concert Theatre on Polson Pier. Featuring a slightly modified lineup from past shows neither New Monsoon nor Yonder Mountain String Band performed while Xavier Rudd joined the traveling circus. Keller Williams and Umphreys McGee also teamed up for a special bonus set. Williams and Umphreys McGee percussionist Kris Myers emerged first for a series of songs beginning with Keep it Simple. A few numbers later, Brendan Bayliss joined in on a cover of Tenacious Ds Kielbasa Sausage. The rest of the Chicago-based sextet then emerged for a version of Bob Marleys Trenchtown Rock which segued into a cover-heavy set that included everything from Steve Miller Bands Fly Like an Eagle to Green Days Long View.
During Umphreys McGees announced show Spearheads Anthony Robustelli also joined in on keyboards for FF. Robustelli returned to close out the evening during String Cheese Incidents encore take on Marvin Gayes What’s Goin’ On along with his bandmates Michael Franti and Carl Young.
