Camp Creek bills itself as the Northeasts longest-running jam festival and sure enough theres truth in that advertising. Max Creek hosted its first such event back in 1982 (although there have been a few Camp-free years along the way which brings us to 20). This weekend, July 29, 30 and 31 the festival returns to Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY. Set to join the host group are numerous artists including Vince Herman and Rob Wasserman, Perpetual Groove, RAQ, Donna the Buffalo, Jeff Pevar and Friends, the Low Dogs and many others. In an archival interview with site editor Dean Budnick, Max Creeks Scott Murawski observed, We try to vary the other acts to expose our audience to as many musical styles as possible and introduce everybody to everybody. We try to promote musician camaraderie and jamming. In fact there’s a lot of playing that takes place off stage and that’s really gratifying as well.
