Huey Lewis first performed with Umphreys McGee at this years Jammy Awards , fronting the group for versions of She Caught the Katy, Heart and Soul, The Weight and I’ll Take You There. Later that night, Lewis returned to the stage with Umphreys during the Jammys post-party for a reprise of Heart and Soul, as well as Bad is Bad. Last night, when Huey Lewis and the News tour rolled through Merrilleville, INs Star Plaza, the Umphreys boys stopped by to catch up with their new friend. While at the show, Jake Cinninger, Brendan Bayliss and Joel Cummins joined the News onstage for versions of Heart and Soul and Bad is Bad (alas, no Power of Love just yet). Thursday, Cinninger and Umphreys McGee drummer Kris Myers also made use of their vacation time by performing with Conspirator during the groups stop at Kalamazoo, MIs Bells Brewery. Umphreys McGee returned to the road on August 20 for a performance at Davenport, IAs River Roots Live.
