Gov’t Mule and moe. kicked off its co-headlining, set time alternating, west coast tour with a two-night stand at Portland, OR’s Roseland Theater. On night one, Gov’t Mule played first and began the parade of collaborations by inviting moe.‘s Chuck Garvey out during ‘Sco-Mule.’ moe. returned the favor during its set, bringing Warren Hayes back for ‘Meat’ and ‘The Pit.’ Haynes also returned during moe.‘s encore alongside fellow Gov’t Mule founder Matt Abts for Steve Winwood’s ‘Dear Mr. Fantasy’ (regular site visitors may also remember that Haynes jammed with Winwood, approprioately enough, at the 2004 Jammys). A night later, Haynes strapped on his guitar a bit early during moe.‘s encore of ‘Bring You Down.’ While no members of moe. sat in during Mule’s closing set, the group did invite Chris Isaak’s guitarist Hershel Yatowitz out on ‘That’s What Love Will Make You Do. The paired performers play tonight in Seattle where both band pledge to offer acoustic sets.
