A new documentary on Bob Dylans gospel era and its impact on contemporary artists will air this coming weekend, followed by a DVD release next week. Gotta Serve Somebody: The Gospel Songs of Bob Dylan will include live footage of Dylan performing ‘When He Returns (off Slow Train Coming) during a 1980 concert. In addition, many of the artists who contributed to the similarly titled 2003 release, Gotta Serve Somebody: The Gospel Songs of Bob Dylan, perform those songs, including: the Mighty Clouds of Joy (Saved), Aaron Neville (Saving Grace) and Shirley Caesar (Gotta Serve Somebody). The filmmakers also interviewed Jim Keltner, Spooner Oldham, Fred Tackett, Regina McCrarya and other musicians who worked with Dylan during his Christian era. The Gospel Music Channel will premiere the film this Sunday, with the DVD release the following Tuesday.
