Although the word has leaked a bit over the past few weeks, Derek Trucks participation as member of Eric Claptons touring band is now official. Trucks will join a group that also features Doyle Bramhall II on guitar, Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon on keyboards, Willie Weeks on bass, Steve Jordan on drums, Simon Clarke, Roddy Lorimer, and Tim Sanders on horns, and backing vocals by Michelle John and Sharon White. The European tour will open on May 5 in France and continue through June 10 before the band picks it up again on July 7 in Italy. As of yet no U.S. dates have been confirmed, although they are expected to follow. Meanwhile, Trucks, who just released Songlines with the Derek Trucks Band, will wrap up a DTB west coast run over the weekend.
