Galactic celebrated the day avant Mardi Gras with three sets of music in its home city of New Orleans. Monday’s extended Tipitina’s Uptown performance featured numerous guest players, including three fifths of moe. as Chuck Garvey added guitar to ‘Mystery Train’ and ‘Blues For Ben,’ Al Schnier stepped up for ‘Baker’s Dozen’ and Vinnie Amico appeared on ‘Look-Ka Py Py.’ On The Meters cover, Galactic and Amico also were joined by Ivan Neville, Mean Willie Green, Kevin O’Day and Adam Deitch. Other guests included John Mooney, Travis McNabb (Better than Ezra), Brian Coogan and Jason Clark. Galactic is off until March 29, the opening date of its Coup de Gras Midwest Tour.
