Once again conductor Matt Butler assembled an all-star ensemble of musicians for last weekend’s annual Pangaea Project Benefit at Portland, OR’s Crystal Ballroom. Notable players included Jon Fishman, Jamie Masefield, Reggie Watts (Maktub), Kai Eckhardt (Garaj Mahal), Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident), Scott Law, Asher Fulero, Tony Furtado, Tye North, members of the MarchFourth Marching Band and the Axe Dide dance company. During the Everyone Orchestra’s second set Saturday, keyboardist Fulero led the entire orchestra through an all-star version of ‘You Enjoy Myself,’ before segueing into Pink Floyd’s ‘Brain Damage’ and ‘Eclipse.’ For those keeping score at home, Fishman is now the second former member of Phish to play ‘YEM’ since Coventry (Mike Gordon revived the number with the Duo last December).
