The Motet is incorporating the words of some notable social activists and commentators on its forthcoming release, Instrumental Dissent. Noam Chomsky and Belafonte are two individuals whose vocal samples on topics of activism and non-violence are folded into the music on the new disc. Instrumental Dissent, which will be released in late September, also is notable as it reflects a band roster that has place in place for over a year, with founding drummer Dave Watts joined by percussionist Scott Messersmith, bass player Garrett Sayers, keyboardist Adam Revell, guitarist Ryan Jalbert and Dominic Lalli on sax. This evening the group is at the Nectar Lounge in Seattle, one of a few shows the group is performing with Matkub vocalist Reggie Watts.
