Over the weekend, the second leg of the sophomore Acoustic Planet tour kicked-off at Vienna, VAs Wolf Trap. In addition to festival stalwart Bela Fleck and the Flekctones, this incarnation of the Acoustic Planet tour features Marc Broussard and Umphreys McGee. Broussard opened the evenings festivities, inviting guitarist Jake Cinninger onstage for the final two songs of his set, before all of Umphreys McGee engaged in a jam segueing into its Divisions. A few songs into its show, Umphreys McGee invited out Futureman for Great American, before bringing Bela Fleck and Jeff Coffin out on Intentions Clear. At the end of Umphreys McGees performance, Fleck, Coffin and Victor Wooten all showed up a bit early, using The Triple Wide as a vehicle to segue into the Flecktones closing set. Each of the evenings performers later returned during the Flecktones encore for Monkey Sea and Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On.
The Acoustic Planet tour will continue tonight at Baltimore, MDs Pier Six Pavilion.
