Particle celebrated its sixth anniversary Friday at Hollywood, CAs Fonda Theater. Similar to past anniversaries, the quartet marked the occasion by inviting some special guests onstage and adding some unique covers to its repertoire (Herbie Hancocks Rockit, Egyptian Lovers Egypt, Egypt, Afrika Bambaataas Planet Rock and Newcleus Jam On It). The group also looked to the future, offering the new original Control/Escape and confirming that its New Years Eve celebration will take place in Los Angeles. During its first set, Particle brought out the Groovaloos dancers, who breakdanced both onstage and in the audience. Later guitarist Ben Combe reworked a number from his old band Bad Shoes catalogue, Vital Things, for the Particle People. Particle will appear at Las Vegas Empire Ballroom on October 29 .
