Over the course of the day we will offer a range of reports from Vegoose. First up is the group that Phil Lesh and Trey Anastasio assembled for two shows (on Saturday at the Orleans Arena and on Sunday at the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl Grounds). While John Medeski, John Molo and Larry Campbell previously had been announced as members of the collective, Anastasios current bandmate Christina Durfee appeared as well, contributing vocals. In addition, on Sunday Mike Gordon stepped to the stage with a banjo in hand for Back on the Train. However some technical glitches led Anastasio to offer up his guitar, which Gordon then used on the song.
Back to Saturday, on that night, the group took full advantage of the move to Standard Time, delivering an extra hour of music when the clocks fell back. Highlights of the show, included the first set opener Ghost which segued into Cryptical Envelopment as well as the encore which offered a run from Viola Lee Blues into Here Comes Sunshine an on into Shine.
Anastasio and his current touring group also performed at the Orleans Arena on Friday with an opening set from Robert Randolph & The Family Band. During the TAB performance, the group brought out Robert Rabdolph for Stone Free and then Family Band keyboard player Jason Crosby joined in as well for 46 Days.
