Bela Fleck and the Flecktones replaced Phish on the second leg of the inaugural H.O.R.D.E. tour in 1992 and the likeminded groups first collaborated on August 21, 1993 at Salt Lake City, UTs Salt Air. On that night the entire group, including bassist Victor Wooten, jammed with Phish for most of its second set, which included Fee, Llama, Lawn Boy, David Bowie, If I Only Had a Brain, Harry Hood, and Daniel. Last week, Wooten performed with Mike Gordon once again, inviting the former Phish bassist out for a jam with his Soul Circus at South Burlington, VTs Higher Ground. Wooten will perform with The Mike Stern Quartet from December 12-17 at Los Angeles Catalina’s.
