The Bad Plus will release its next studio album, Prog, on May 8. Tony Platt, who engineered AC/DC’s Back in Black, serves as the discs producer. Like the trios previous four releases, Prog features an eclectic mix of covers: Tears For Fears’ Everybody Wants to Rule The World, Burt Bacharach’s This Guy’s In Love With You, Rush’s Tom Sawyer and David Bowie’s Life On Mars. Prog will also feature six original songs, including the final installment in their paean to athleticism, 1980 World Champion. The Bad Plus will perform at Ithaca, NYs Cornell University on March 11 and appear at the university with the Mark Morris Dance Group on March 14 and 15.
