While performing at Minneapolis, MNs First Avenue Saturday, Umphreys McGee invited a local musician with some national buzz to appear on a handful of songs. During Umphreys first set, God Johnson saxophonist Kevin Sinclair appeared on a version of Wife Soup, which segued out a ‘Jimmy Stewart’ segment. Sinclair returned during the groups second set for a version of Divisions. Proof that great minds think alike, Umphreys McGee also offered a jam based around Led Zeppelins Kashmir the same night their friends the Disco Biscuits offered its first reading of the song at snoe.down. Umphreys McGee drummer Kris Myers will play a free show at Chicagos Websters Wine Bar tonight. He will then perform with Brian Dougherty and Vijay Tellis-Nayak at the same bar tomorrow as the Kris Myers Trio.
