This evening at the Insbrook Pavilion in Richmond, Virginia, longtime colleagues, confidants and kin will collide (hopefully not literally) as the Aquarium Rescue Unit shares a bill with the Derek Trucks Band. The two groups are deeply entwined in terms of amity, mentorship and DNA (both literal and figurative as ARU bassist Oteil Burbidge and DYB keyboardist/flautist Kofi Burbridge are siblings). This is the only announced ARU gig for the near future and its members likely will be occupied for much of the summer, with Jimmy Herring out with Widespread Panic, Oteil Burbridge touring with the Peacemakers and the Allman Brothers Band, Col. Bruce appearing with the Quark Alliance and Jeff Sipe presumably to pick up some dates with Trey Anastasio. Meanwhile the Derek Trucks Band will be gigging into early July.
