Warren Haynes name is on the festival marquee so it was fitting that he made his presence felt throughout all three e days of this years Third Annual Mountain Jam. The event, which is co-sponsored by WDST, Radio Woodstock, returned to Hunter Mountain, NY this weekend and despite some occasional rain and brief surge of lightening that curtailed Umphrey’s McGees Saturday set, the festival earned rave reviews and drew its largest audience to date.
Ever the gracious host, Haynes joined a number of the other acts throughout the weekend. On Friday he appeared with New Orleans Social Club for their final two songs, Everything Is Everything and Fortunate Son. Then, over the next two days he sat in with G Love and Special Sauce as well as Spearhead. Meanwhile, Govt Mule invited a number of guests to the stage, with its Saturday night show offering Michael Franti and Machan on Play With Fire, Jake Cinninger on That’s What Love Will Make You Do Ozomatlis Uli Bella and Asdru Sierra on Endless Parade and Tea Leaf Greens Josh Clark on Rockin’ in the Free World. Speaking of Tea Leaf Green, the group also shared in the spirit of camaraderie inviting Umprey’s McGee keyboardist to the stage for a version of Freedom during TLGs afternoon set.
The festival has posted a number of images from the weekend on its official blog.
