Performances by Robert Walter’s 20th Congress have been scarce in recent years while the group’s namesake focuses on the Greyboy Allstars and saxophonist Cheme Gastelum tours with Budos Band and the Dap-Kings. But, later this week, Walter and Gastelum will reunite with 20th Congress members Chuck Prada (guitar), Chris Stillwell (bass) and Eric Kalb (drums) for a series of club shows at San Francisco’s Boom Boom Room (10/11-12) and Chicago’s Subterranean (10/13). Kalb, who made his name playing drums in Deep Bannana Blackout, recently completed a tour with Walter in the Greyboy Allstars. Later this month Walter will also play New Orleans’ d.b.a. with Johnny Vidacovich on October 16 and Mike Dillon on October 23.
