As previously reported, Marco Benevento recently entered the studio to record an album of new material more tailored for a trio than a duo. The result, Invisible Baby, finds the keyboardist performing with Tea Leaf Green/Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey bassist Reed Mathis and alternately drummers Andrew Barr and Matt Chamberlain on a number of original selections, including The Real Morning Party and Atari (fans can preview both songs over at Ropeadope). The album will be released through Hyena records in early 2008, around the time of Beneventos residency at New Yorks Sullivan Room. The keyboardist will play a free jazz show at Brooklyns Bar 4 tonight with saxophonist Tony Barba and drummer Conor Elmes and headline Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg with Joe Russo this Wednesday.
