Reed Mathis is currently dividing his time between his longtime band Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and new group Tea Leaf Green. Last week the busy bassist’s two worlds collided when Tea Leaf Green performed at Cincinnati, OH’s 20th Century Theatre. Midway through TLG’s second set, former JFJO drummer Jason Smart replaced Scott Rager for a version of ‘Baseball Song.’ The collaboration marks the first time a member of JFJO has performed with Tea Leaf Green since Mathis officially joined the group last fall. Tea Leaf Green will perform at San Francisco’s Fillmore Auditorium on February 29 and March 1, while JFJO will hit the road again for a string of shows beginning at Tulsa, OK’s Blank Slate on April 4.
